About Us
-
In 1965 after learning the tire and automotive business from his dad and working for another tire dealer for several years, Fred Ash started Freddie’s Tire Service in the backyard of the family home located at 11th and Blackwelder. Fred’s son, Ron Ash was 11 years old at the time and worked along side him after school and on weekends learning the family business from the ground up. Quickly outgrowing the home garage, Freddie’s moved from 17th and Agnew then on to 21st and Agnew where, with the good Lord’s help and much hard work, the business flourished and eventually grew to encompass a city block and become one of Oklahoma’s largest, independent tire dealers. In 1990, Ron opened a second Freddie’s Tires on 71st and N, May Ave. In 1992, after Fred decided to retire, Ron closed the N. May and opened a new store on I-40 & Agnew where again business prospered and the Freddie’s legacy continued in the original area.
In 2004, because the Oklahoma Department of Transportation needed the land Freddie’s was on to build an on ramp for the I-40 Crosstown Realignment, Ron had to move Freddie’s one more time. He is very excited about the new location at 3104 W. Reno which is situated between May and Portland, three blocks east of Mathis Brothers. With 15,000 square feet of space, the new store doubled the size of the I-40 location with state of the art facilities and equipment to serve our customers. Everyone that comes through the doors loves the modern new store and of course, are very pleased we still have the fast, friendly service Freddie’s is famous for. That will never change.
